Analysis

There's much more to be done in the world of analysis for this project. We've only scratched the surface of what's possible with our marked-up song files. Below, you'll find analysis charts of both lyrics and chords used by each artist.

The "Song Lyrics Similarity" network shows lots of connections between both artist's lyrics.

The chord usage graphs provide insight into which chords the artists used the most frequently, both per album and compared to each other. One overall conclusion drawn from the graph comparing the artists to each other is that Greta Van Fleet more commonly used simple chords (chords without extensions or inversions) like "1", "4", "5", and "6m", whereas Led Zeppelin used more complex chords. This reflects how popular music has become simplified over the years because that's what appeals to the majority of listeners and is what makes a hit radio song.
